  • A quiet bonfire time at the site of Shugenja

    This is a night time program to experience the world of Mt. Nakadake in Aso, an active volcano that is also emitting smoke. Walk from Furubochu to the middle of Mount Kishimatake where the crater can be seen and take a distant view of the volcanic fumes of Mt. Nakadake in a quiet space, which can only be seen at night. Afterwards, the program will be held around a bonfire in Furubochu to reflect on the passage of time since prehistoric times.

  • An evening cocktail time in a thousand year old meadow

    A special lounge space is prepared in the meadow of the northern somma, which is normally inaccessible. Enjoy a relaxing time watching the sun set over the outer rim of the mountain, the moon rising over the outer rim of the mountain, the five peaks of Mount Aso illuminated by moonlight, and the night view of Aso spreading out beneath you. A feast bento box with snacks made from seasonal ingredients in a special Oguni cedar stacked box, as well as local alcoholic beverages and soft drinks are provided.

A special time on horseback enjoying the historical and cultural landscape of Aso, which has been maintained by field burning for a thousand years.

  • View Iwato Kagura, a traditional performing art with local villagers

    Watch Iwato Kagura, a traditional performing art of the Namino district On the stage, dances and gagaku (Japanese traditional ceremonial music and dance), the prototypes of Japan’s unique “matsuri” (festival), are performed. Before viewing the stage, a snack (feast bento) based on traditional regional dishes usually served during kagura performances and locally produced sake will be served.

    Guests can easily explore Uchinomaki’s restaurants with a food and beverage ticket with a coupon and a restaurant guide map. One ticket for each store. One drink and one of their specialty snacks will be provided, and guests can tour one to three restaurants while looking at the map, depending on their preferences.
